Gaano Kadali Magpasensya?

Gaano ba kadali ang magpasensya? Kasing dali ba ito ng pagbiblang ng isa, dalawa, tatlo? Kasing dali ba ito ng paglalakad? Kasing dali ba ito ng paghinga?

May mga bagay sa ating buhay na sadyang hindi natin binibigyan ng halaga. May mga bagay na tila ba kompante na tayo dahil ang akala natin ay lagi itong nariyan. Kung kaya dumarating tayo sa punto na tayo ay nakalilimot.

Hinga ng malalim. Sabay buga. Hinga. Hawakan hanggang makakaya.

Hindi ba ang pasensya natin ay parang hihinga tayo tapos iho-hold natin pero kung hindi na natin kaya ay wala tayong choice kung hindi ibubuga na natin.

Hindi ba ang pasensya natin ay parang lobo na pwede nating palobohin pero kung humigit na nito ang hangganan ay tiyak na ito ay puputok.

Hindi madali ang magpasensya. Lalo na, hindi madali ang umunawa. Umunawa ng mga taong hindi marunong makisama. Umunawa ng mga taong sarili lang nila ang kanilang iniisip. Tila ba na sa kanila lang umiikot ang mundong ating ginagalawan.

Mahirap, pero kakayanin. Mahirap, dahil nasasaktan na ang ating mga damdamin. Lalo na kung ang pasensya mo ay lagging sinusubok ng mga taong nakapaligid sa atin.

Isa, Dalawa, Tatlo, Apat…

Sige magbilang tayo ng paulit-ulit. Paulit-ulitin natin hanggang sa tao ay matauhan sa ating mga kalokohan. O kung ‘di naman kaya ay pukpukin na lang ang kahit anong bagay na nasa ating harapan nang sa gayon ay makaramdam naman tayo ng kahihiyan.

Pasenya. Isang salitang madaling sambitin pero mahirap gawin.

Gaano kadali magpasensya? SOBRANG DALI.

Salaming Walang Mukha

Ang aking isip ay lumilipad sa kalawakang puno ng mga katanungang mahirap hanapan ng kasagutan. Ang aking damdamin ay pawang lumalangoy taliwas sa agos ng daluyong ng karagatan. Ang diwa ko nama'y sumusunod lamang sa ilawód ng mga pangyayari sa kapaligiran habang ang puso ko ay parang bangkang papel na nakikipagbuno laban sa agos ng ilog tungong irayà. 

Hindi ko alam kung saan na nga ba ako patungo. Subalit, patuloy pa rin akong naglalakad sa madilim na daan tangan lamang ang sulô na nagbibigay liwanag sa madilim na kagubatan ng aking magulong kaisipan. 

Minsan, naisip kong tumingin sa salamin upang tanungin ang aking sarili. Ako'y nabigo, dahil pawang anino lamang ng kahapon ang aking nasulyapan at hindi ang aking sarili. Pagtanggap ang sumampal sa mukhang manhid sa katotohanang ayaw kong paniwalaan.

Ako'y nagising sa sakit na nadama nang katotohanan. Bumuhos sa katawan ko ang tubig na puno ng yelo na mas lalong pumukaw na nanaginip kong pagkatao. Pagtanggap ng sarili ang bumalot sa katawan ko na gumabay sa naliligaw kong pagkatao. 

Juan's Problem

It was 5 in the morning of January 28 when I tuned in Myx, a Filipino music channel featuring various music videos from different genres both popular and not and some from the late 1990s. The show Take5 features Gloc-9’s popular songs that morning. Some of it touches my heart especially when I heard the songs that tell a story about poverty and Filipinos going abroad seeking for an opportunity that is not clearly visible in our country.
Understanding why poverty exist is not that easy. Social scientists dig deeper to the root cause of it. Some researchers believed that poverty may have a root cause from the country’s history, culture and foreign relations.
Unemployment is one of the main factors of poverty in the country. In 2009, National Capital Region (NCR) carries about 7 percent of the country’s total population, according from the data gathered by the National Statistical Coordination Board. In the same juncture, approximately 4 out of 10 poor individuals are unemployed in Luzon. In the second quarter of 2012, approximately 10.9 million individuals are unemployed, according to a recent survey by the Social Weather Stations (SWS).
This high count of unemployment rate in our country might have caused by lack of job opportunities and willingness to work.
The songs written by Gloc-9 entitled “Wala ng Natira” is pertaining to the Filipinos going abroad, looking for better or even good opportunities in order to sustain the needs of their family. I quote,

“Napakaraming guro dito sa amin ngunit 

Bakit tila walang natira

Napakaraming nurse dito sa amin

Ngunit bakit tila walang natira 

Nagaabroad sila 

(Gusto kong yumaman4x)”

These lines directly says that people belongs to poor family most likely tend to go abroad, hoping for better opportunities that could raise them up from the ashes of poverty.  But in contrary to his other song “Bakit Hindi” wherein he tells that many people just wanted to sit and stay at home waiting for some GOs and NGOs to extend their help to them. Many of our fellowmen portrays the characteristics of Juan Taman: A young boy that waited for the fruit of Guava to fall into his mouth.

I believe that we Filipinos are great. We can surpass all kinds of problems surrounding us. But before we became as great as other developed countries, we must first develop our own identity, love of country. This is for us to get out inside the box that where we are now for us to attain our dream future.

Relevance of Learning Peace Education in My Course

-      Learning peace education as a future educator we should be a role model in promoting peace in our students as well in our community. We should live in accordance to the teachings and values of God and to live as helpers of God. Peace in Education and peace education is a vital part in students learning process because it is the part when we mold and inculcate our students to be a productive and values oriented part of our community.

How would you integrate values in each of the following subjects?

Values integration in all subject areas is a vital component of learning. We define learning as a behavioral change of a person by acquiring new knowledge that we may encounter in our daily life.

In teaching language subjects like English and Filipino as well as Math, Science, Araling Panlipunan (Social Studies)/ Sibika (Civics), and MAPE/MAPEH, we should always put values on our lessons every time we teach. As teachers, we touch the lives of our students; we mold them to be globally competitive citizens of our country and to help them to reach what they want to be in the future. Keep in mind that our students might forget what we teach, like adding fractions, the governors-general during Spanish colonization, and animal kingdoms. Still, for sure, they will always remember the values that they’ve learned from us. But there is always a question pinned to it. How?

When teaching English and Filipino as well as teaching other languages, we could impart values by using sample sentences and activities that are values related. For example, in teaching identifying NOUNS, we could use the sentence; “Filipinos help each other especially in times of trouble,” we let our students recognize the nouns, as well as they’ve learned other useful attributes of being a Filipino.

In the primary level, teachers in Math teach their students to count as well as adding and subtracting. He/She should also add to their lesson, how will their students use it in their daily life teach and the importance of valuing things like money and proper time management.

In Science, teachers can use many different strategies to integrate values into their lessons. For example, the experience is about the human body, and the teacher can teach their students how to value and take care of their bodies.

In Social Studies and Civics, the teacher can teach the moral value that lays history. For example, we let our students reflect on a particular event in our history and give their reaction and position, why Rizal did write Noli Me Tangere.

In MAPE/H, we could teach the essence of valuing our own culture and preparing our students to appreciate our heritage, like arts and dance, as well as our cuisine.

There are lots of ways of integrating values education in our lessons. We need to learn how to do it effectively to mark the values we teach to the heart and minds of our students. We are not just teachers, but we are helpers of God. We train their hearts, their thoughts, as well as how, do they will behave in our society.

At its heart, there must be a sense of empowerment and inner fulfillment. This alone will ensure that human and cultural values remain paramount in a world.

Peace Education

                Education is a process of behavioural change through acquiring new knowledge and understanding new things that surrounds us. Peace is originally means the absence of war in ancient time. We could still use war as the definiendum of this term and as misunderstanding and violence inside the classroom setting such as bullying as its definiens.  

                Peace education is the absence of war in classroom setting. It is important to have peace in order to become more conducive in learning. Harmony and non-threatening atmosphere also sets the mind of the learners to focus in studying without the fear of being harmed by their classmates or by their teacher. It is also bring peaceful relationship between teachers and student.

Stupendous Life

Two different points of views

When I was a kid, I always think why people have different perception of life. I keep asking myself why it is like that. During my elementary years, many of my classmates often been absent in the class, some didn’t even return for good. There was a time that I met my old classmate in the market and I asked why he didn’t go to school for weeks. He answered me, he said “Indi ey ako ging sugtan ni papa mageskwela, siling nida, maarado yangey ako sa boker” (My father wouldn’t allowed me anymore to attend to school, It might be good if I help him in the farm) –he is Ariel. I felt sad for him. That was the time when I realized that not all of us are blessed to be living in a normal and stable life. There was also a friend of mine that happened to be belongs in a well-off family in our province. Not different from my other classmates, he is always absent. Not because his father wouldn’t want to, but he prefer be. He doesn’t want to go to school. He is wasting the allowance that his parents are giving to him. When I ask why he is doing that, he said “Meron nga akong pera, nasusunod ng mga magulang ko ang aking luho, pero wala naman sila sa tabi ko kung kailangan ko sila” (I have money, my parents can buy me whatever I want, but they are not here for me when I needed them). 

Every one of us has different perceptions in life. There are times that we avoid to hear the comments of other people. But even though we stick in our what we so called PRIDE, there is still some times that we let those to be thrown away to adapt for the betterment of our lives and with the help of our friends.
